Amanda M. Roy, 90 services held Saturday

Services for Mrs. Amanda M. Roy, 90, of Cresco, who died Thursday, November 10 at the Howard County hospital, were Saturday, November 12 at the Assumption Catholic church with Msgr. Donald Heineman, officiant. Burial was in the Oak Lawn cemetery. Conway Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

The former Amanda Miller, daughter of Carl and Martha Miller was born February 9, 1893 in the Golden Ridge area of Howard County. She formerly was employed at the Cunningham store in Cresco and later moved to Milwaukee, Wis., where she was employed for several years.

She married Henry J. Roy in Milwaukee in 1929 and later the couple moved to Columbus, Wis., where they owned and operated several restaurants for many years. Mr. Roy died in July of 1965.

Mrs. Roy continued to live in Columbus and moved to Cresco in July 1978 where she and her niece, Erma Bigalk made their home. She entered the Evans Memorial Home in July 1983 and suffered a heart attack on October 18 and died at the Howard County hospital.

She is survived by her niece, Erma Bigalk and two nephews, Vincent Bigalk and Jay Widman of Cresco. She was preceded by her parents, three sisters, Mrs. Herman (Lena) Bigalk, Mrs. Earl (Mollie) Widman and Mrs. Charles (Louise) Gillespie and a brother, William.
