DIED.

NORTON--At the residence of his son, B. P. Norton, Saturday, June 24th 1893, Solomon G. Norton, aged 78 years 4 months and 28 days.

Deceased was a native of the Empire State, born in Courtland county January 26, 1815. He buried his wife in 1873, with whom he had lived since 1840. He came to Wisconsin in 1853, locating near Whitwater. In 1862 he came to Iowa, locating on a farm in New Oregon from thence locating on the farm where he died. A few years ago a cancer developed from which he got no relief, having been a great sufferer during the past five or six years. He leaves three children, D. A., B. P. and W. J. Norton. Deceased was a man held in high esteem by his neighbors, and was a good and worthy citizen. The funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon, where from his earthly sufferings he was laid to rest in Oak Lawn cemetery.

--The aged father of W.J. Norton, of this city, died at his home near Cresco last Saturday in his 79th year. He has been a resident of Howard Co. since 1862 and was a much respected man. Death came to him as a great relief, as he has suffered from cancer for the past half-dozen years.
