OBITUARY.
FARLEY—At his home in Milbank, S. D. June 11, 1893, John Farley, aged 67 years 1 month and 26 days.
The deceased was a former well known and respected citizen of Howard county. He was born in York state, April 15, 1826, where his early life was spent. After moving he was married in Stephenson county, Ill. April 13, 1854, to Miss Potter. To this union were born four children, J. S. Farley of Milbank, S. D., Albert and Lorenzo Farley of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. L. E. Emmons of New Oregon. Before coming to Iowa the family resided at Racine, Wis. In 1859 he moved with his family to Howard county, where his wife died March 28, 1882. January 7, 1885, he was again married to Mrs. Esterly. Howard county was their home until about a year ago when they moved to Dakota. Mr. Farley was first converted to the Christian faith at the age of 27. He did not really identify himself with the church until about four years ago when he became a member of the M. E. Church of this city; since which time he had lived very close to his Savior. He talked very freely during his last days of God’s goodness to him, expressed himself willing and ready to go when it was God’s will to call him home. He repeated aloud the Lords prayer, dwelling on the words, “Thy will be done.”
The remains were brought to Cresco and the funeral services held in the M. E. Church on Tuesday last, after which they were interred by the side of his wife, in the New Oregon cemetery.
