DIED.

BOWERS—At Cresco, Iowa May 12, 1893, Alonzo Bowers, aged nearly 73 years.

The deceased was among the early settlers in this section of Iowa, locating in 1855, on the farm in Orleans township, which he continued to own to the time of his death. For the past few years his home has been in Cresco, the farm having been conducted by tenants. He was a frugal, industrious man, attending carefully to his business, thereby having secured quite a competence. During the past thirty-five years we have known him intimately, have dealt with him hundreds of dollars during the time, and have always found him honorable in his deal. He leaves a widow and several relatives. He entertained some peculiar views upon religious matters, but if men are rewarded for their deeds, and not what they profess, the future has no hardships in store for him. He had a mind of his own upon most questions and freely expressed his opinions.
