John Dybvik, 68, of rural Harmony, Minn., passed away at his home Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Friends called from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony, Minn., as well as one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services were Monday, May 4, at 2 p.m. at the Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony, Minn. Burial was in Greenfield Cemetery in Harmony.

John (Jackie) Dybvik was born Nov. 17, 1946, in Cresco, to Orval and Hazel (Lunningdahl ) Dybvik. He was a 1964 graduate of Harmony High School. He went on to attend college at Winona State University and then joined the army. After his tour of service in Germany, John returned to finish his college education obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in education. Initially, he pursued a career in industrial arts education and taught High School in Oregon, Wis., but was drawn back to his roots and returned home to farm with his parents soon after the birth of his son, Jed. He raised Jed and second child, Nola on the family farm where he was passionate about family, farming and community. John's faith journey began in the Greenfield Lutheran Church. He served his church in various capacities, church president, council member, cemetery board member, and spearheaded the church's endowment fund. In 1993, Julie and Kelsey Andera were welcomed into his family circle. He enjoyed Julie's shared passion in the farming operation and together the rearing of Kelsey. Throughout the next years, John gathered in more family, adding his son-in-law and daughter-in-law and delighted in his grandchildren and their accomplishments. John was a hard working individual and enjoyed all aspects of soil stewardship. He later expanded his career into federal crop insurance adjustment, most recently with Great American Insurance. John was a skilled designer and craftsman. He took pride in his work and was always sensitive to the needs of others. John was a trusted friend to many.

John is survived by his family of Julie Andera, Jed and Trisha Dybvik and their children, Tiffany, Mackenzie, and Brynlie of Ventura, Calif..; Nola and David Wradislavsky and their children, Garrett and Leighton of Blooming Prairie Minn.; and Kelsey Andera of West Des Moines. Along with his immediate family, he is survived by siblings: Sharyl and Harlan Haugen, and Connie and Leland Hovey, along with nephews, David, Dan, and Dean Haugen and nieces Dawn Kucera and Erin Ludwig and several great- nieces and -nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Hazel; infant brother, Daryl; and nephew Christopher Hovey.

Memorials are suggested to the Greenfield Cemetery Association.
