Carol Ann Mahoney, age 77, of New Hampton, IA passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.

No services will be held at this time, but a celebration of Carol's life will follow at a later date.

Carol Ann was born in rural Howard County, November 22, 1937, the daughter of Robert and Emily (Mahoney) Lappin. She attended Oakdale Township country school until the eighth grade, when she moved to LeRoy, MN where she attended LeRoy-Ostrander High School. Following school she was married on the family farm in rural Howard County, to Donald Mahoney on July 20, 1954. Together the couple moved near New Hampton where Carol work for the US Postal Service for 29 years.

Carol enjoyed going to auctions, reading, traveling, but most of all she cherished her time with family and friends.

Carol is survived by her husband, Donald Mahoney of New Hampton, IA; two sons, Alan (Marie) Mahoney of Solon, IA, Del Mahoney of New Hampton, IA; two daughters, Wendy (Bill) Ungs of Charles City, IA, Dena O’Brien of Clarinda, IA; sister, Helen (Norb) Gerber of LeRoy, MN; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Royal and Garth Lappin; and a sister Marjorie Eastvold.
