Margaret T. Reicks, 79, of Cresco, IA passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Cresco Care Center in Cresco, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Notre Dame Parish in Cresco, IA. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco, IA. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 404 North Elm Street, Cresco, IA 52136 with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the time of service Thursday at the church.

Margaret Teresa Reicks was born October 3, 1935, daughter of Charles and Mary Ellen (Birmingham) Chihak in Lourdes, IA. Margaret was born a city girl, who turned into a farm girl after meeting Merlin Reicks. On April 7, 1958, Margaret married Merlin at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lourdes, IA. Together they farmed north of Cresco until Merlin passed away on December 24, 2007.

Margaret was known for her kindness and acceptance of others, raising beautiful plants and flowers, excellent cooking, raising chickens, and a big vegetable garden. She loved music, whether for dancing or listening. Margaret was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and Elvis. She developed a love for dolphins when she and Merlin began wintering at South Padre Island, TX, where they enjoyed making new friends for over 17 years. During those years, she acquired an extensive collection of dolphin figurines.

Margaret moved to Cresco Care Center after Merlin passed away. She made many new friends and enjoyed all the activities offered. Her family extends a sincere thank you to the Care Center employees for the wonderful care and love shown to her over the last seven years.

Surviving Margaret are her children: Bridget (Mark) Schroeder of Ossian, IA, Ellen (John) Whalen of Harmony, MN, Maureen (Kurt) Moellers of Ridgeway, IA, and Charles (Joanne) Reicks of Cresco, IA; grandchildren: Aaron Kulish, Kristen (Adam) Rhodes, Jeffrey Whalen, Eric Whalen, Liza (Mike) Davis, Justin (Crystal) Moellers, Derek Moellers, Travis Moellers, Trina Moellers, and Kyrah Reicks; step grandchildren: Mark Jr. (Lisa) Schroeder and Tarissa Schroeder; great-grandchildren: Dominic Moellers, Draxxin Moellers, Devin Rose Rhodes, and baby Davis,due in July; step great-grandchildren: Karliegh Fischer, Mason Schroeder, and Izak Schroeder; her siblings: Mary Ellen “Namie” (Frank) Follett of Ocala, FL; Rose (Dick) Schroeder of Davenport, IA, Chuck (Regina) Chihak of Onalaska, WI, John (Judy) Chihak of Marion, IA; aunts: Eleanore Kilcoyne of Clinton, IA and Cyrilla (John) Haugen of Waterloo, IA; brother-in-law, Virgil Reicks of Harmony, MN; sisters-in-law: Darlene (Jim) Vsetecka of Alta Vista, and LuVerne Loftus of Rochester, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Merlin; and mother and father-in-law, Albert and Louise Reicks.

The family suggests memorials to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
