Cresco- Funeral services for John Byrnes, 87, who died Monday in Cresco hospital, were at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Assumption Catholic church here; Rev. Vernon Peters officiated; burial was in Calvary cemetery, west of Cresco; was born at Fox Lake, Wis., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Byrnes; came to Howard county with parents in 1870, and had lived here since; was one of Cresco's early dry goods merchants; later years were spent farming with son, Louis, north of Cresco; surviving are three sons, Louis and Donald, Cresco; Walter, Milwaukee, Wis.; and one daughter, Mrs. Joe Parr, Los Angeles, Cal.; seven grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. W. F. Milz, Cresco; Mrs. Ella Woods and Miss Elizabeth Byrnes, Minneapolis.
