Cresco- Funeral services for Mrs. Mae Swenson Schmidt, 71, were here Wednesday; died Monday of a heart attack in her Cresco home; had been ailing for some time; was the daughter of Ole and Almeda Swenson, who were among Howard county's earliest settlers; born April 6, 1879, in the home where she died; Jan. 19, 1928, she was married to Philip A. Schmidt at Seattle, Wash.; after that she lived in Seattle and Chicago, Ill., until March, 1935, when she returned to Cresco and had lived here since; leaves four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Etta Gillespie, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Mabel E. Stevens, Glendale, Cal.; Mrs. Winifred Bixler, Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. Emma Lou Palmer, New Sharon, Ia.; Ole Swenson, Evanston, Ill.; and Fred Swenson, Cresco; two brothers preceded her in death, Wesley O. Swenson, Cresco, and George Swenson, Waukon.
