Iowa Plain Dealer August 25, 1892, P3 C3

An Old Settler Called.

Julius F. Webster among the early settlers of Howard county, passed from time to eternity, last Thursday morning, aged nearly 74 years. He was born in Richland county, Iowa, Nov, 1818. His early days were spent on the farm and at the trade of blacksmithing. In the early settlement of Howard county, we found him and his family residents of Howard Center, our first night in the county, in August 1857, having been with them there. He has held various township and county offices, having been sudervisor,{sic} County Treasurer, Justice of the Peace and township clerk, holding the last two offices at the time of his death. He was a public spirited citizen who took great delight in all public enterprises. His life has been a busy one and he has left a record for which his surviving friends and relatives need not blush. His funeral was conducted by the Masonic fraternity, of which he had been a member for many years. A widow, two children, Cyrus H. Webster, and Mrs. H. T. Reed, with numerous relatives and friends, and the public, mourn his departure to the bourne from which no traveler returns.
