DIED.
THORNBURGH—At the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. J. Clemmer, in Cresco, Iowa, Sept. 28, 1891, Mrs. Frances E. Thornburgh, aged 78 years, 3 months, 16 days.
Frances E. Edmonson was born in New York City June 7th, 1813. She was married to Ephraim Thornburgh Sept. 28, 1829, at LeRoy, N. Y. Five children were born to them, of whom only two survive her, Mrs. E. P. Dunn of Brewster, Neb., and Mrs. J. J. Clemmer of this place.
The first years of her married life were spent in West Virginia, where they lived until about the year 1838, when they removed to Knox Co., Ohio. About the year 1845 they removed to Beloit, Wis., and from there, about 1855, to Iowa.
Her death occurred on the 63rd anniversary of her wedding within an hour and a half of the time when the ceremony was performed.
She was a consistent member of the church. First the Presbyterian and afterwards the Congregational for nearly 60 years. She was one of the first members of the Congregational church at this place, when it was organized at Vernon Springs by Rev. J. W. Windsor and Supt. Reed some 35 years ago.
Her illness resulted from a fall, producing paralysis of the lower limbs and seriously affecting her brain. She scarcely knew her friends during her long sickness.—Republican.
Her husband survives her, but in very feeble health, being now about 86 years of age.
Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone shows the spelling of her first name as Francies. She is buried in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
