DECATUR, GA - Funeral services for Dr. Bonnie C. Harvey will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014 in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons, Decatur. Interment will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Visitation will begin at 12 noon at A.S. Turner & Sons, Decatur, Ga.
Dr. Bonnie Harvey, writer, teacher, editor, died on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014 from esophageal cancer.
Dr. Bonnie Carman Harvey was born in 1930, in Cresco, Iowa, the daughter of William and Lena Carman.
She was married to Raymond E. Harvey until he died in 1989.
She earned a B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. from Georgia State; worked as Movieguide film critic; taught writing at Kennesaw State and DeKalb Medical Wellness; edited for other writers. Her magnum opus was Living Life Twice: A Second Chance at Adulthood (2013).
She is survived by a daughter: Cynthia Harvey Fletcher and son-in-law: James L. Fletcher, Jr. of Savannah, Ga.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers.
She was preceded in death by a son: Steven D. Harvey in 2011.
