OBITUARY.

DIED—At his home in Paris twp., one mile east of Lourdes, on Friday, Sept. 13, 1889, of Bright’s disease, Joseph Pnrcel{sic}l, in his fifty-ninth year.

Mr. Purcell was born in County Kilkenny, Ireland, in the year 1830, came to America in 1849, residing for some time in Ridgefield, Conn, where he married Miss Bridget Callahan, afterwards moving to Dubuque, Ia., where he lived for a short time. In 1854, he came to Lourdes, one of the first pioneers, and has since been highly respected by all who knew him.

Being the first constable of Paris twp., has since held various offices for a number of years.

He was an industrious and well-to-do farmer and always successful in his undertakings.

He was buried in the Lourdes cemetery on Sunday, Sept. 15th, when occurred one of the largest funerals in its history.

In attendance were many of his friends and relatives. He leaves a great many to mourn his loss.

Surviving him are his wife and three daughters, Mrs. M. Kelley, Lourdes, Mrs. P. T. Kearney, St. Paul, Mrs. E. B. Ahern, Elma.

The bereaved family have the sympathy of their many friends.
