Iowa Plain Dealer August 15, 1889, P3 C3

William Thornburg, after an illness of a few weeks, died on Friday of last week, and his remains were laid at rest in Oaklawn Cemetery on Saturday. He was the oldest child of Deacon E. Thornburg and wife, both of whom survive him, advanced in years to near the four score and ten. The age of the deceased was about 57 years. He was in the military service as a Lieutenant in a Kansas regiment during the war, his residence then being in that state. He was much broken down in health for the past two years, but to within a few weeks of his death was so as to be around town. His parents and two sisters, Mrs. E. P. Dunn and Mrs. Dr. Clemmer survive him; his sickness and death occurring at the home of the latter, where the old people are.

Transcriber's Note: The cemetery records show the last name as being spelled Thornburgh and the date of death as August 20, 1889 which doesn't agree with the date of the paper. Also the cemetery records show he was born July 9, 1932.
