Lowell Norman Knutson was born September 6, 1933, in rural Howard County, Iowa, the son of Jeff and Cora (Vaala) Knutson. Lowell was both baptized and confirmed at the Jerico Lutheran Church. He received his education in Jerico country schools.

On September 15, 1957, Lowell married Rosaleen Vaala at the Saude Lutheran Church. To this union three children were born; Ruth, Don and Jeff.

Lowell loved living on his farm, and took great pride in his lawn. He enjoyed visiting with people and could meet a complete stranger, and by the end of the conversation knew everything about them. Lowell liked to drive his golf cart around the neighborhood, and when the grandchildren came over they cherished many special hours riding with him. His trusty dog Bear would always be sitting next to him on the golf cart.

Lowell enjoyed watching birds from his window and would always look forward to seeing the gold finches return in the spring. He loved the holidays and would always have on Christmas music during the season.

Lowell joined Rosaleen in the nursing home where they both resided. He made the best of things and became friends with many of the residents and staff. Rosaleen passed away on January 11, 2014, and he grieved everyday for her loss. He was taken home to the love of his life, where they will spend eternity together. Lowell told his family daily how much he loved them. We all should be so lucky to experience such great love.

Survivors include daughter, Ruth (Glen) Kuehn of New Hampton, IA; four sons, Don Knutson of Lawler, IA, Jeff (Karen) Knutson of Lawler, IA, Roger Knutson of Cresco, IA, Richard (Paige) Knutson of Yuma, AZ; grandchildren, Justin Kuehn of Cedar Falls, IA, Jared and Jacob Knutson of Lawler, IA, Kassidy, Hannah, Wyatt, and Kyaah Knutson of Yuma, AZ; sister, Marcia (Dale) Wagoner of Lawler, IA; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rosaleen Knutson (Jan. 11, 2014), two sisters, Adis Hereid, Carol Sletten; two brothers, Orlo Knutson, and James Knutson.
