MOULTON—In Cresco, Iowa, May 6, 1888, Latatia Jane Moulton, wife of B. F. Moulton, aged 67 years 7 months and 25 days.
The funeral services were held in the Baptist church, Tuesday afternoon, 8th inst., Rev. O. W. Catlin, of the Baptist church, Rev. A. S. McConnell, of the Congregational, and Rev. J. D. Tull, of the Methodist, officiating.
Mrs. Latitia Jane Moulton, maiden name Kelley, was born Sept. 11, 1820, in Pennsylvania. She was converted at the age of sixteen and united with the Baptist church by baptism. At the age of seventeen was married to Edward C. Bowers. Nine children from this union have risen up to call their mother blessed. With these she was left a widow when the eldest was but sixteen years of age, April 28, 1855. In September of the same year the eldest, a daughter, Mary Ann Bowers, died. Nine years later in August, 1864, a son, Eliphaz B. Bowers, died in a southern hospital of typhoid fever.
She was married to B. F. Moulton, the bereft, in October, 1866. At the time when his youngest child was four years of age and the eldest ten, to these children, four in number, she gave of her mother’s love and care. A companion, seven children, all married but one, several grand children, and many friends mourn their loss, which we trust is her gain.
Of the life thus flown,
Friends need not be told,
Most loved when best known,
Her’s a friendship best when old.C.
