A fatal accident occurred near Staff Creek last Saturday. A little son of Isaac Newton was sent to carry a meal to his older brother, who was herding cattle. The older boy left his little brother in charge of the mule with which he had been herding, for a few moments, and on his return found that the mule had become frightened and run away, dragging and kicking his brother, who had tied the halter rope around his wrist, until he was badly bruised and his clothes entirely torn from his body. He was dead when found. The funeral took place at Leroy Sunday.--Riceville Recorder.
