Funeral services for Stephanie Hurst of Cresco were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 1996, in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. Pastor Bruce Hobert officiated. Interment was in Oak Lawn Cemetery with Lindstrom Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

She died following a car accident near Decorah on November 27, 1996, at the age of 23.

Stephanie Ann Hurst was born October 4, 1973, at the Howard County Hospital the daughter of Sheryl and Tom Hurst. She lived on a farm Southwest of Cresco. In 1982 Stephanie and Sheryl moved into Cresco and in 1984 Sheryl married Randy Ferrie.

During her high school years Stephanie worked as a waitress. She graduated from Crestwood High School in 1992.

Steph was successful in her career in sales. She worked for the Cresco radio station for about one year and then was hired by the Cresco Shopper, where she'd been for three and one half years.

Survivors are her mother; step-father, Randy Ferrie; two brothers, Roland and Ramsey; maternal grandmother Mary Thies of Elma; and her paternal grandparents Ron and Doris Ferrie of Cresco.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Roland Thies; and her paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Mavis Hurst.
