Fatal Accident.

On Monday night, just as the east bound passenger train arrived from the west, John E. Wentworth, aged 22 years, son of Richard and Sarah Wentworth, stepped onto the track at the street crossing one block east of the Phoenix Elevator, when the engine struck and instantly killed him. The engine, baggage car, mail car, and the front wheels of one coach passed over his body, mangling it in a terrible manner from a little above the knees to the chest. He had gone home but few moments before in company with his brother Will. Shortly after arriving at home he expressed a desire to go over to Fitzgerald's, who live close to the track, but finding they had all retired, he started up the track with the result above stated. He leaves a large circle of relatives, friends and acquaintances to mourn hs untimely death.
