DIED,

SHIELDS.--In Howard Center township, November 2, 1885, of rheumatism, John Shields, aged 60 years.

He was born in Kings county, Ireland, and removed to this country thirty years ago, and died as he had lived, with hatred to none and good wishes for all.

Rest, father dear, your days on earth are ended,
And your sorrows now o'er;
On thy brow a crown is shining.
