ELMER FLUGGE OF ELMA DIES OF HEART ATTACK AT 75
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 23, in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Elma for the father of Mrs. Vernon LaBarge, Elmer Flugge. He died Sunday, September 20, in his home at the age of 75 of a heart attack.
Full military honors were conducted by the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a veteran of World War I having served in France.In addition to Mrs. LaBarge, he is survived by seven sons and five more daughters, his ex-wife and one brother.

Elmer Flugge was born June 6, 1895 in Illinois, the son of Henry Flugge and Caroline (Westendorf) Flugge. The family was living in Washington, Chickasaw, Iowa from the 1900 Census to the 1920 Census. His mother died in 1908. After his marriage he and Elsie lived in Howard County, Iowa.
He married Elsie Caroline Lubbert, the daughter of August Lubbert and Ida (Hahn) Lubbert. Her parents are buried in Riverside, Riceville, Mitchell, Iowa Cemetery.
