Civil War Veteran Answers Summons
Daniel Price Andrus, son of Horace and Polly Andrus, was born in Chautauqua county, N.Y., Nov. 14, 1836; moved to Wisconsin in 1843, and to Iowa in 1850.
On January 1st,1863,he was married to Mary E. Cheever. He enlisted in 1864 in Co. F. 9th Iowa and served to the close of the war. He was in eleven engagements. He received a wound at Dallas, Ga., which deprived him of the use of his right arm.
With his family he moved to Howard county in 1881 living on a farm for a few years and then settling in Cresco where the family have since resided.
He departed this life Feb. 19th, 1915, at the age of 78 years. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and five children, James H., Clarence D., Mary S., Ida F., and Charles, also one sister Mrs. Lucy Wheatley of Lohrville, Iowa.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. Gammons and Rev. Kirwin were held at the Me. E. church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The G. A. R. and Relief Corps attended in a body. Burial was in Oak Lawn.
