Arthur “Art” Pesek, age 74, of Schley, IA, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco, Iowa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Cresco, Iowa. Burial will take place in Schley Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 404 North Elm Street, Cresco, IA, with a scripture service to follow. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service at the church.

Arthur J. Pesek was born on December 15, 1939, in Howard County, IA, son of Charles and Mary (Moudry) Pesek. Art enlisted into the United States Army on February 14, 1963, and was stationed in Germany until January 1965. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Art moved back to the Schley area to tend the land. In 1978, Art proposed to Janice and her four children, and they became married on August 19, 1978, in Cresco, IA. Their family enjoyed their annual July camping and fishing trip. Art also enjoyed bowling, playing cards and Sequence, traveling, gambling, and listening to polka music. He especially loved spending time with his family. God gives us memories so we can have Roses in December.

Art is survived by his wife, Janice of Schley, IA, sons, Steve (Lora) Tupy of Waterloo, and their children, Omar (Kelly) Amador-Tupy, Jose (Kari) Amador-Tupy, Skylar and Isabella, Kristin (Elvedin) Babic, Edin and Landin, and Onnalyse Amador, Allen (Yurika) Tupy of Vacaville, CA, and their children, Jasmin and Carina, Mike (Tina) Tupy of Cresco, IA, and their children, Joshua (Tracy) Tupy, Bryce and Chase, Sarah Tupy, Lisa (Kewsi Larbi-Siaw) Tupy, daughter, Joanne (Chuck) Reicks of Cresco, IA, and their daughter, Kyrah, and his sister, Mildred Henkes of Cresco.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Charles and Mary, brother, Robert.
