Donald S. Ishman -- Cresco, Iowa
CRESCO, Iowa -- The funeral for Donald S. Ishman will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in United Methodist Church in Cresco, Iowa. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Ishman, 82, of Cresco, died Saturday (Oct. 22, 2005) at Cresco Care Center.
He was born May 8, 1923, in West Union, Iowa. On April 14, 1945, he married Avis Allgood in Grundy Center, Iowa. During World War II, he served as a gunner on a Merchant Marine ship. He worked as a mechanic, a painter and a bus driver, then started farming. They bought a farm near Granger, Minn., in 1964. They moved to Cresco in 1998.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda Spieker of Cresco and Donna (Larry) Fredrickson of New Hope, Minn.; a son, Bruce (Nicki) of Cresco; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Joyce Burt of Columbia, Md.; and a brother, Dale (Joann) of Elkader, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
