Ridgeway- Graveside services for Raymond "Ray" N. Elder of Ridgeway will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Phillips Cemetery in rural Bonair, Iowa.
Visitation was held Tuesday, May 29 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and will continue today, Wednesday, May 30 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco.
Ray,55, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at his home.
Raymond Neil Elder was born Jan. 13, 1957, the son of Allen and Vivian (Fitzgerald) Elder.
Ray spent much of his life running a dairy farm with his parents. Farming was something Ray enjoyed, and you could never find him far from livestock of some sort or fixing equipment.
Ray enjoyed fishing, hunting, especially coon hunting with his old dog Sam, and a deep running passion in the horse business. Undoubtable one of the most renowned hoof trimmers (cattle/horse) of his time, Ray also spent many years being the best in his class, his true passion, and riding, driving and breaking horses.
Ray is survived by his mother: Vivian Elder; a brother: Michael Elder; two daughters: Karrie (Elder) McClellan and Holly Elder; and one granddaughter: Charlotte McClellan.
Ray was preceded in death by his father.
