Mrs. Melvin Benson,Funeral Held Friday

Funeral services for Mrs. Melvin Benson,79, were held Friday at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. Carsten Smeby officiating. Burial was in the Oak Lawn cemetery with the Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral home making the arrangements.

Mrs. Benson died at the Lutheran hospital in La Crosse on Jan. 31. She was born July 25, 1893, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ole J. Ferkingstad of Cresco. Mrs. Benson married Melvin H. Benson on March 17, 1921, at the farm home of her parents. The couple has lived their entire lives in the Cresco area.

Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Lawrence, Elmer, Gonval, and John; and an infant son, Bernard Orin.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Gordon of Minneapolis, a daughter, Mrs. Ted (Mildred) Peterson, of Wolverton, Minn.; one brother, Julius, of San Fernando, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
