DIED.
POTTER—In Cresco Friday Morning October 8 1880 Clarence F. Son of J. S. Potter aged 18 years 6 months and 27 days.
Six years ago deceased was prostrated with rheumatic fever and swelling of the limbs resulting therefrom, culminating in a running sore upon one of his legs, continuing to the time of his death. About six weeks since he was prostrated from a flow of blood from the site, which was kept staunched by the various methods and appliances in use for that purpose. It was decided on consultation with physicians to amputate the leg, and the day prior to his death, Dr. W. F. Coleman of Decorah, assisted by Drs. Eddy, Hoyt and McCollum performed the amputation. From the time of his first sickness to the time of his death, he had almost constantly been an intense, but uncomplaining sufferer displaying remarkable moral and physical courage at all times, and at the moment of final separation bidding his friends adieu with the confidence and coolness of fear, that assurance of a hope of a better and happier life in the great hereafter.
