Fred Bigalk Funeral Conducted on Monday

Funeral services for Fred Bigalk,87, were held Monday at the Immanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. E.C. Franke officiating. Burial was in the Oak Lawn cemetery with Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral home making the arrangements.

Mr. Bigalk, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bigalk, was born at the farm home in Albion township on Nov. 14, 1884. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Matthew's church in Granger. Since 1913 he was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran church of Cresco. On June 12, 1913, he married Frieda Meyer at the farm home of her parents. The ceremony was performed in the German language by the late Rev. John Pless. Mr. and Mrs. Bigalk farmed in the Cresco vicinity for many years. They moved to Cresco five years ago.

The past year his health began to fail. This past week he entered the local hospital for treatment and died Nov. 11.

Mr. Bigalk was preceded in death by twin daughters, Irene and Ilene, who died in infancy; a five -year-old sister; and three brothers, Herman, Albert and Paul.

He is survived by his wife, Frieda, his two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Mildred) Eberling of Cresco, and Mrs. Orval (Lucille) Floyd of Iowa City; one brother, Richard of Harmony, one grandchild and four great grandchildren.
