Jesse B. Barber was born in Canton, N.Y., April 1st, 1838, and died at his home in Cresco, June 20th, 1917.Mr. Barber grew to manhood in his native community and in 1859 was united in marriage to Miss Rose Farley. To this union was born two children, Nellie, who died at the age of 22 years, and Belle who survives him, the wife and mother having passed to the great beyond some years ago.Along in the early 60's Mr. Barber with his family came west to Ohio and there worked as a bridge carpenter for the railroad for eleven years. He then came farther west and settled on a farm near Cresco, where he has since made his home.

Mr. Barber is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Belle Geraty of Cresco, his wife to whom he was married a few years ago, one sister and three brothers, all being present at the funeral except the one brother in California.

The funeral was held from the late home at 2 o'clock on Friday in charge of the Masonic lodge, with the sermon by Rev. Will Kirwin, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was made in Oaklawn cemetery.
