Graveside services to be held

Graveside services for Charles Burgess will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28 at Oak Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Wasta officiating.

Charles, 87, died Monday, October 9, 2000 in West Palm Beach, FL.

Charles Ray Burgess was born on April 4, 1913, the son of Charles C. and Mae (Lomas) Burgess. He graduated from high school and Carleton College in 1933 with a major in music. He taught instrumental music for two years in Cudahy, WI. From 1943 to 1946 he served with the USO Camp Shows in the European Theatre. Following that he was an executive with the USO in New York City.

Charles was an accomplished piano player and music arranger and participated in summer stock and dinner theatre.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Marcia Wise; and one brother: Henry.
