Mrs. Frieda Bigalk service held June 1

Funeral services for Mrs. Frieda Bigalk were held June 1, at the Immanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. E.C. Franke officiating. Burial was in the Oak Lawn cemetery with the Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral home in charge of arrangements. She died May 30, at the Howard County hospital, at the age of 83.

Mrs. Bigalk was born June 21, 1892 at Postville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyer. In infancy she was baptized in the Lutheran church of Postville. On March 24, 1907, she was confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran church in Cresco and remained a member all of her life. She was active in the work of the women of the church. She was president of the women's group, then known as the "The Bethany Circle".

On June 12, 1913, she married Fred Bigalk in her family home near Ridgeway. The Rev. John Pless officiated. They farmed most of their lives in Albion township. For the last eight years Mrs. Bigalk has lived in Cresco.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband who died in 1972; twin daughters who died in infancy in 1927; her brothers, John, William and Louie; and sisters, Mrs. Adalia Hanneman, Mrs. Amelia Halweg, and Mrs. Anna Kuene.

Mrs. Bigalk is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Mildred Eberling of Cresco, and Mrs. Orval (Lucille) J. Floyd of Iowa City; one granddaughter; four great grandchildren.
