CEDAR RAPIDS - Funeral services for Evelyn Moriarty of Cedar Rapids, Iowa were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at St. Jude Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating. Interment was held in St. John Cemetery.

A Vigil service was held 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2 at Teahen Funeral Home where friends were able to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday after 9 a.m.

Evelyn, 73, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at her home.

Evelyn Moriarty was born Feb. 17, 1940 in Cresco, Iowa, the daughter of John and Caroline (Lukes) Pecinovsky.

On Aug. 15, 1974, she married Robert J. Moriarty in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1996. She had worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Meth-Wick Community and Higley Mansion Care Center.

She loved spending time with her family, going for short walks, playing bingo, and taking trips to the local casinos. She liked visiting her daughters home where she would sit on the deck and enjoy the countryside, watch the livestock and the deer, and wait for her turn on the ATV.

Evelyn is survived by a daughter: Youvanna (Richard) Meyer of Williamsburg; two sisters: Marlene Hron of Cresco and Donna (Jim) Anderson of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren: Brittany and Zachariah Stanek, Dustin and Celeste Meyer and Lacy Alexander; and two great-grandchildren: Addison and Wyatt.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert; a sister: Arlene Hron; and a brother: Wilmer Pecinovsky.
