Stanley Bateman,72, Funeral Held Nov. 5
Funeral services for Stanley Bateman were held Nov. 5 at the Assumption Catholic church with the Rev. L. Reicks officiating. Burial was in the Oaklawn cemetery with the Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral home in charge of arrangements. Military rites were conducted by the American Legion.
He died Nov. 2 at his home at the age of 72.
Mr. Bateman was born in Albion township, Howard county, on May 30, 1898, the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Bateman. On November 6, 1922 he married Louise Herplinck at Casper, Wyo. They resided on a farm near Cresco for 18 years. For the next ten years he worked for the telephone office. The following ten years they resided in Waterloo. For the past seven years they have lived on their farm outside of Cresco.
He attended Cresco high school and the University of Iowa from where he entered the service. He was a member of the Assumption church and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Lyle Bateman and Gerald Bateman; ten grandchildren; and also one brother, Harold Bateman.
