Clyde Barnes, 85, funeral held Tuesday

Services for Clyde Allison Barnes, 85, were held at 1:30 Tuesday, Dec. 19, at First Lutheran church with interment in Oak Lawn cemetery. Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He died in Minneapolis.

Clyde Allison Barnes was born in Harmony, Minn. on Dec. 23, 1893. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Barnes. Clyde attended school in Harmony and the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. He was a veteran of World War I. He married Luana Ellingson on September 1, 1920. They made their home in Minneapolis except for the years that they owned and operated the general store in Kendallville. While in Minneapolis he was employed as a salesman for a wholesale grocery firm for a number of years. During World War II he was with Northern Ordinance and later the Federal Reserve Bank. He retired after being employed in the bank for 12 years, but continued with Fifth Nothwestern bank for two years. They have lived in Cresco the past eight years, where he was a member of First Lutheran church.

He is survived by his wife, Luana.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one son, Eugene; a sister, Luella Wilcox and a niece, Betty Ann Wilcox, also twin brothers and a sister, all of whom died in infancy.
