Mrs. Mary Benson Funeral Friday

Mrs. Mary Benson, 74, widow of the late Howard Benson, died in the Cresco Good Samaritan center yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church with burial to be in the Oak Lawn cemetery.

Surviving Mrs. Benson are a daughter, Mrs. Donald Copeman of Cresco; three granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren and two brothers, Ed Wilken of Cresco, and John Wilken of Long Beach, California.

Mrs. Mary Benson Funeral Held in Methodist church

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary F. Benson,74, of Cresco, who died in the Cresco Good Samaritan center last Tuesday, were held at the Methodist church Friday afternoon. Mrs. Benson had been ill of cancer the last several years.

Conducting the funeral services was the Rev. Paul Somerville, pastor, and burial was in Oak Lawn cemetery. The Bradley Funeral home had charge of the funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Benson, the former Mary F. Wilken, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christ Wilken, was born at Cresco, October 21, 1887.

She attended the Cresco public schools and was married to Howard N. Benson in Cresco, January 24, 1906. Mr. and Mrs. Benson became the parents of one daughter, whom survives.

Mrs. Benson was a member of the Methodist church, the Royal Neighbors and Rebekah Lodge.

Surviving Mrs. Benson are her daughter, Mrs. Donald Copeman of Cresco, and two brothers, J.C. Wilken of Long Beach, California, and Ed Wilken of Cresco. There are three grandchildren, Lieutenant Donald E. Copeman of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Donald (Audrey) Cremer of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Parnell (Beverly) Neubauer of Cresco, and eight great grandchildren.

Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by her husband, who died May 27, 1940; her father, who died January 2, 1937, and her mother, who died Jaunary 12, 1939.

Among those attending the funeral services from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilson of Elmspring, South Dakota, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cremer of LaCrosse.
