Leone Elizabeth (Paul) Baumgartner, age 96, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco, Iowa, with Pastor Mike Massa presiding. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lime Springs, Iowa. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday. Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home 404 North Elm Street Cresco, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.

Leone Paul was born on May 28, 1917 in Montrose, Dane County, Wisconsin, daughter of Charles and Sylvia (Elsner) Paul. At the age of 3 year old she moved with her folks on a farm near Schley, Iowa. Rev. L.W. Moench confirmed her at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco on June 26, 1932. On May 25, 1939, Leone married Gaylord Baumgartner. To this union, two daughters were born Donna and Dorothy. Leone was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lime Springs, Iowa for 50 years. She was an active member helping as a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School, and served on different circles. Leone enjoyed doing volunteer work at the hospital, where she was a Pink Lady and had a life membership pin. She also volunteered at Evans Memorial Home and the Senior Citizens center.

Surviving Leone are her daughters, Donna Ogden of Des Moines, IA, and Dorothy (Carmen) Ellingson, of Orlando, FL, 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.

Preceding her are her parents, husband, Gaylord, and brother, Fred.

Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 305 2nd Ave. W, Cresco, Iowa 52136.
