Funeral for Mrs. John Aegerter, 90, In Cresco Monday
Funeral services for Mrs. John Aegerter, 90, of Cresco, were held at the Evangelical United Brethren church Monday afternoon with the Rev. Edward A. Schaller, pastor, in charge.
Burial was in the Oak Lawn cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Bradley Funeral home.
Mrs. Aegerter, who was an invalid for the last five years, died Thursday. Her death resulted from an accident she suffered several weeks before.
Mrs. Aegerter, the former Ann Kathryn Bachmann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bachmann, was born in Bern, Switzerland, November 5, 1866.
On August 16, 1889, she was married to John Aegerter at Bern. Mr. and Mrs. Aegerter became the parents of three sons and four daughters.
Three years after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Aegerter came to the United States and engaged in farming in Illinois and Iowa. They continued farming until their retirement in 1919, when they moved to Cresco.
Mrs. Aegerter was converted through the Young Women's society of Bern, when she was about 20 years of age. Immediately after coming to the United States, Mr. and Mrs. Aegerter joined the Evangelical church in Symerton, Illinois. Mrs. Aegerter has always kept her membership in the Evangelical church, now known as the Evangelical United Brethren church.
Surviving Mrs. Aegerter are her husband, John, two sons, Albert of Waterloo, and Fred of Klemme, and four daughter, Mrs. Anna Ladwig of Cresco, Mrs. Lydia Faist of Oelwein, Mrs. Roy Gager of Davenport, and Mrs. Melvin Lemon of Tucson, Arizona. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Preceding the aged Cresco woman in death were a twin sister and a son.
