Ethel C. Mrachek, 92, of Cresco, Iowa passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Patty Elwood Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ethel will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 404 North Elm Street, Cresco, Iowa 52136. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Ethel was born on April 27, 1921, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Adank) Sabelka, on a farm near Riley Ridge. She attended Chickasaw country schools. On February 15, 1944 Ethel was united in marriage to Frank Mrachek. Together Ethel and Frank farmed south of Cresco until 1975, when they moved to town.

Ethel is survived by her children, Roger Mrachek of Charlestown, RI, and Mary Lou (Nick) Brown of Winnetka, IL, grandchildren, Stephanie Dohrer, Julie Ackerman, Ryan Mrachek, Catherine Barron, Casey Mrachek, Michael Brown, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in April 2012, parents, four sisters, two brothers, Ervin and Jerome, and daughter-in-law, Patti (Knosby) Mrachek.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Patty Elwood Center, 21668 80th Street, Cresco, Iowa 52136.
