CRESCO- Betty I. Kammer, 80, of Cresco, IA, formerly of Oelwein, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco.
There will be no public services as it was Betty's wish to be cremated. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Conway Funeral Home in Creso handled the arrangelments.
Betty Irene Kammer was born May 21, 1928 in Torquay, England the daughter of Cyril and Evelyn (Brown) Bell. She was raised by Fred and Harriet Snell in Paignton,England.
She met and married, at the age of 16, Robert E. Kammer during WWII when he was stationed in England while serving in the U.S. Navy. They were married in Paignton on May 14, 1945. Betty came to the United States as a war bride and lived in Michgantown, IN with Bob's family until his discharge from the service. Together they had two sons, Edward Richard and Thomas Brian. Betty devoted her life to her family as a homemaker.
Betty is survived by her son: Thomas (Brenda) of Cresco; daughter-in-law: Tammy (Kammer) Dolan of Plymouth, MN; grandchildren Michael Kammer of Krakow, Poland; Chase Kammer of Denison, TX; TJ Kammer of Minneapolis, MN; Kelli Kammer of Cresco, IA; and Chelsea Kammer of Plymouth, MN; and two great-grandsons; Guy Kammer and Landon Schlangen, both of Cresco.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Robert in December 1995; her son: Edward in September 1994; her parents; one sister: Laura; and two brothers: Burt and Leslie.
