Widow of Minister Died At Home of Her Daughter
Mrs. Ida Landdeck, 94, died at the home of son-in-law and daughter, the Rev. and Mrs. F. Sauerbrey, in Maple Leaf September 14. The widow of the late Pastor John Landdeck, she made her home with her daughters for the last 20 years.
Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schultz she was born in Statin, Province of Pommeranine, Germany, January 21, 1853. She came to the United States when five years old with her parents who located in Prairie du Sas, Wisconsin. She was confirmed in the Lutheran church in her youth.
She was married to the Rev. John Landdeck on October 18, 1875, and they were the parents of eight children. A faithful co-worker with her husband who served parishes in South Clinton, Wilton, Franklin Mills and Grafton, she continued her activities with the church organizations as long as her health permitted. After her husband's death in 1924, she lived alone for several years in her home in Grafton, and for the last 20 years had made her home with her daughters.
She is survived by six sons and two daughters, Walter of Carpenter; Louis of Watertown, South Dakota; John of Goodrich, North Dakota; the Rev. Fred of Boscobel, Wisconsin; Arthur of Owatonna, Minnesota; the Rev. Carl of Russell, Kansas; Mrs. F. Sauerbrey of Maple Leaf, and Mrs. H. Westerman of Montgomery, Minnesota. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Private services for the family were held at the Maple Leaf parsonage September 17, conducted by her grandson, the Rev. Fred Landdeck of Dubuque. Services were held at the Saint Paul Lutheran church in Maple Leaf with the Rev. J. Pless of Cresco, and the Rev. H.H. Landdeck of Davenport, another grandson in charge. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran cemetery at Grafton.
