Frank Horejs,79, Saratoga Native, Dies
Private family funeral services were conducted for Frank J. Horejs, 79, In Boise, Idaho on Jan. 11 with cremation following. He died Jan. 4 in the Boise Veterans Administration hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Horejs was born to Mr. and Mrs. Francis Horejs at Saratoga on Dec. 25, 1893. He married Nellie Kacelek on April 5, 1920 in Twin Falls, Idaho.
He served with the army during World War 1 participating in major battles, being wounded nine times. After the war he served with the occupation army in Germany before returning to the United States. He lived in Buhl, Idaho until 1935 and moved to Twin Falls, Idaho at that time. He moved to Filer in 1955 to operate a small farm. He retired in 1970. He was an amateur boxer and was active in boxing and in recent years was a member of the Golden Age club. He was a member and former commander of the Twin Falls D.A.V. post and was active in D.A.V. and other veterans organizations in state and local levels.
He was preceded in death by one son, John, who was killed in a plane crash in 1960.
Mr. Horejs is survived by his wife of Filer; a daughter, Mrs. Murrel Blades of Jerome, Idaho; three sons, Francis (Bud) Horejs, Larry Horejs and Gerald Horejs all of Twin Falls, Idaho; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Frank Dinger of Lime Springs; one brother, Antone Horejs of Lime Springs.
