Gerald Stevens, 55, services held here
Funeral services for Gerald Stevens, 55, were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at the United Methodist Church in Cresco. The Rev. Allen Wiese, pastor of the church, officiated with interment in Phillips cemetery at Bonair. Arrangements were with Lindstrom Funeral Home.
He died June 24, 1987 following an accident on the farm.
Gerald L. Stevens was born on the family farm near Bonair on January 10, 1932 the son of Jesse and Edith (Grabau) Stevens. He attended the Bonair elementary school and graduated from Cresco high school.
On November 24, 1956 he was united in marriage to Lois Elder at the United Methodist Church in Bonair. They were the parents of three children. Jerry farmed in the area all of his life and was the manager of the fertilizer plant at Bonair when it was owned by Areo. He was a member of the Methodist church and the Cresco Wildlife Club.
Jerry is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Suzanne) Anderson of Ridgeway, a son, Paul of Ridgeway and their mother, Mrs. Lois Amundson of Texas; also a granddaughter; one brother, Jesse of Palantine, IL; four sisters, Mrs. John (Martha) Loquai of Owatonna, MN, Mrs. Clayton (Carol) Whynacht of Rochester, MN, Mrs. James (Zona) Darrah of Waverly and Mrs. Robert (Jane) Hyberger of Cedar Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Wayne and two brothers who died in infancy.
