Former Resident Of Schley Dies

Mrs. Caroline Shimek, formerly of Schley, died in Detroit, Michigan, Monday, where she had been living with her daughter, Johanna Shimek.

Funeral services will be held at the Schley Holy Cross Catholic church Friday morning at 10:00. Burial will be in the church cemetery with the Peckosh Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

Surviving Mrs. Shimek are seven children, including William Shimek of Waterloo, Mrs. Jessie Svestka of Cresco, Johanna Shimek of Detroit, Mrs. Lucy Carroll of Detroit, Mrs. Helen Ingram of West Salem, Wisconsin, Edward Shimek of Elma, and Mrs. Bernadette Burke of Elma.

Transcriber’s Note: Per Joseph Shimek’s obituary, Mrs. Shimek’s maiden name was Kubesh and was married to Joseph on Feb. 9, 1892. Also, their daughter Helen’s name is spelled Ingraham in Joseph’s obituary. Cemetery records indicate she was born in 1869.
