Obituary
Ulysses G. Phillips, son of James Monroe and Rosetta Phillips, was born on a farm near Bonair where he spent nearly his entire life with the exception of several years when he with his brother Lewellyn went to Portland, Oregon, where they took up claims.
In 1901 he returned to Iowa where he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Garver of Lime Springs. To this union were born three children: Florence, Mrs. Harry Bigalk of Harmony; Merle, Mrs. Ray Blomgren, Cresco, and Lester on the home farm.
After several years of failing health he passed suddenly away early Sunday morning June 26th at the farm home. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, the above named children; five grandchildren; three brothers, Howard of Lime Springs, Bert of Bonair and Leon of St. Cloud, Minn., and many nieces and nephews. Two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
He was of a quiet and retiring nature, loving his home and family and will be sadly missed especially by his little grandson Raymond who had spent so much time with him. Altho he had been in failing health for some time his death came as a shock to his family.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Larson’s Undertaking parlors at Lime Springs at 1:00 p.m. Interment was at Phillips cemetery, Bonair. Singers were Mrs. M. B. Davis and Mary Harry Haven.
