Mrs. Addie Michel funeral held at Granger

Funeral services for Mrs. Addie Hutchison Michel were held Nov. 20 at the St. Matthews Lutheran church in Granger. She died Nov. 17 at the Harmony hospital of cancer.

She was born August 20, 1908, in Lime Springs, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hutchison. She attended Harmony high school. On July 4, 1925, she married Virgil Michel. They farmed southwest of Niagra Cave until 1950 when they moved to Harmony.

For years she participated in adult 4-H leadership, garden clubs, and a wide variety of church organizations at St. Matthews Lutheran church where she sometimes sang and played the organ. The list of community organizations that she worked with include the Auxiliary of the hospital where she worked as a volunteer, the Legion Auxiliary, Homemakers, and various study groups. She also practiced a wide range of crafts such as china painting and needlework and demonstrated spinning techniques for the public.

She was preceded in death by a son Gordon, a grandson David, and a great-grandchild, Christina Kay.

Mrs. Michel is survived by her husband; Virgil; three sons, Vernon,George, and Orlando, all of Harmony; two daughters, Mrs. John (Jan) Saecker of Markesan Wis., and Mrs. John(Jacque) Ryan of Harmony; 23 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a sister, Olive Schoonmaker of Granger.
