Frank Pelikan, 68, services held Friday

Funeral services for Frank Pelikan, 68, were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 9, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Lloyd Reuter officiated with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Schley. Conway Funeral Home made the arrangements.

He died at his home May 5 of a heart attack.

Frank Edward Pelikan was born October 12, 1917, at Little Turkey to John and Stella Pelikan. He attended the rural school in the Schley area. Frank served in the army during World War II from December 2, 1941, to October 24, 1945. He received a silver battle star and three overseas service bars.

Frank married Agnes (Franzen) Benda on January 9, 1968. They became the parents of two children. Agnes died on October 9, 1981.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s church and the American Legion.

Survivors are his daughter, Deb Pelikan of Decorah; two step-daughters, Diana Benda of Decorah and Donna Widell of Wells, MN; two step-sons, Duane Benda of Portland, OR, and Darrell Benda of Cedar Rapids; one grandchild and one brother, Clem Pelikan of Waterloo.

His parents, a brother, Godlove, and an infant son preceded him in death.
