Eva Mae Murray Funeral on Saturday

Funeral services for Eva Mae Murray were held Saturday at the United Methodist church, at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. George Baker officiated. Burial was in the Phillips cemetery at Bonair with the Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Murray died Jan. 29 after suffering a stroke on Dec. 2. She was in the Cresco hospital for several weeks and then moved to the Hyberger Nursing home where she died. Mr. Murray died about a week before at home.

Eva Mae Murray was born Feb. 20, 1898, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence E. Grabau. Her early education was received in the rural schools and graduated from Normal Training course and high school at Cresco in 1916.

On Aug. 30, 1916, she was married to Daniel L. Murray at the Methodist parsonage in Cresco with the Rev. Will Kirwin officiating. After their marriage they made their home in Elgin, Ill. for a short time and after returning to Iowa they lived in the Bonair area with the exception of about 20 years in Waterloo where her husband was assistant engineer at Allen Memorial hospital.

She was a member of the Bonair Methodist church, WSCS, Royal Neighbors, and Bonair Garden club. During the years she was a member of the Bonair church, she served in many ways such as Sunday school teacher and pianist, communion steward of the church and also secretary-treasurer of the Garden club.

Mrs. Murray is survived by her children Lyell of Cresco, Mrs. Carl (Ruth) Ulm of Evansdale, Mrs. Greg (Esther) Zweibohmer of Ossian, Mrs. Dean (Rosetta) Burkey of Waterloo; 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Earl Grabau of Lime Springs; two sisters, Mrs. William (Sylvia) Goetsch of Cresco, and Mrs. Jesse (Edith) Stevens of Lime Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Paul E.; and three grandchildren.
