Brief mention was made in The Times of October 9, of the death of Mrs. Lizzie Webster. We are in receipt of more detailed information which will be of interest to her Howard county friends.

Mrs. Sarah E. (Simonds) Webster, widow of Lewis E. Webster, died after a long illness in the home of her niece Mrs. Ida Merriam, Westminster, Mass., the evening of September 30, 1935. Funeral services were held there and burial was made in the family lot in Woodside cemetery, Westminster.

Mrs. Webster was the daughter of Albert G. and Sarah (Woodcock) Simonds. She was born at Athol, Mass., May 22, 1850. She was one of the early settlers in Cresco, coming from Massachusetts in 1872. She continued to reside here and in the vicinity of Bonair for many years. When a young women she united with the Methodist church of Cresco and was active in its work. She was a teacher in the Cresco public schools and other schools in the county.

In 1888 she was married to Lewis E. Webster, also a pioneer resident of Howard county. He died many years ago. She is survived by one brother, Stillman W. Simonds of Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Mrs. Webster spent several years in California after the death of her husband. She returned to Cresco and for some time made her home with Mrs. Maggie Story. About four years ago on Account of her declining years she went to Westminster where she has since lived.

She was an aunt of Major General Geo. E. Simonds of Washington D.C., and Miss Mildred Simonds, missionary.
