Mrs. Eldon McGee, Ill Four Months, Buried Tuesday

Funeral services for Mrs. Eldon McGee, 54, of Minneapolis, formerly of Cresco and Schley, were held at the Church of the Incarnation, in Minneapolis, Monday morning. Mrs. McGee died Friday following a four months’ illness.

The body of Mrs. McGee was brought to the Peckosh Funeral home in Cresco Monday afternoon and rosary was recited there in the evening. Burial was in the Holy Cross cemetery at Schley Tuesday morning.

Mrs. McGee, the former Ruth Malek, daughter of the late James Malek and Mrs. Malek, was born at Schley, July 17, 1908.

She attended the Paris township grade school and the Cresco high school, and assisted her father in operating a general store in Schley until her marriage to Eldon McGee November 25, 1943.

Following her marriage, she and Mr. McGee lived in Minneapolis. Mr. and Mrs. McGee became the parents of two children. Mrs. McGee was a member of the Church of the Incarnation and the Woman’s club.

Surviving Mrs. McGee are her husband, Eldon, of Minneapolis, and children, James, 17, and Ann, 15, at home, and her mother, Mrs. Carrie Malek of Schley. Mrs. McGee was preceded in death by her father, who died August 24, 1959 and a brother, George, who died in 1948.

Among those from out-of-town attending the funeral services was Mrs. Burton Barth of Cresco.

Transcriber’s Note: There is a discrepancy in Mr. McGee’s obituary as it says his wife survived him. He died in 1994.
