Funeral for Mrs. Louis Maravetz In Schley Church

A requiem mass was held in the Holy Cross Catholic church at Schley, November 26, for Mrs. Louis Maravetz, 67, of near Elma, who died in the Hyberger Nursing Home in Cresco, Thanksgiving day morning. Burial was in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Maravetz had been in failing health the last year and had suffered several strokes and from a diabetic condition. She entered the Cresco nursing home six weeks ago.

Mrs. Maravetz, the former Louise Shimek, daughter of Mrs. Joseph Shimek and the late Mr. Shimek, was born December 18, 1893. She was married to Louis Maravetz, and the couple became the parents of six children, five of whom survive.

Surviving Mrs. Maravetz are her husband, Louis, of near Elma, her mother, Mrs. Joseph Shimek of Detroit, Michigan, and her children, Arnold of Elma, Mrs. Arnold (Clementine) Meier of Elma, Mrs. Leo (Marjorie) Weber of Charles City, Mrs. Richard (Evelyn) Nicholson of Rudd, and Raphael of Riceville.

There are 11 grandchildren and seven brothers and sisters, including William Shimek of Waterloo, Mrs. Reuben Svestka of Cresco, Johanna Shimek of Detroit, Mrs. Bernard (Lucy) Carroll of Detroit, Mrs. Leslie (Helen) Ingraham of West Salem, Wisconsin, Ed Shimek of Maple Leaf, and Mrs. Thomas (Bernadette) Burke of Elma.

Preceding Mrs. Maravetz in death were her father, who died about 12 years ago; a child, who died in infancy, and one brother and one sister, who died in infancy.
